2004
26 February Mr George MacLaren Mr George MacLaren, the new Agent General of Quebec to the United Kingdom plans to visit the Scottish Parliament, pay a courtesy call with the Presiding Officer and lunch with a cross section of MSPs.
3 to 11 April Tartan Day 2004 The Presiding Officer will lead delegation of David McLetchie MSP, Michael McMahon MSP, Donald Gorrie MSP and Kenny MacAskill MSP to undertake meetings in New York, Washington DC, Ottawa and Québec as part of the Tartan Day 2004 celebrations. Delegation will meet with a wide range of officials and government representatives to promote Scotland and build political, cultural and economic relations.
13 April Andre Gagnon Principal Clerk from the Journals Branch, Page Programme and Private Members' Business Office within the Canadian House of Commons visited the Parliament to discuss e-petitions and the electronic voting systems.
27 to 29 June President Bissonnet Assembly delegation of Speaker Bissonnet, the 2 House leaders, 2 whips, plus their Chiefs of Staff and the Secretary-General will visit the Scottish Parliament, Westminster and Assemble National of France. The visit to the Parliament will look devolution, how the Parliament operates, it's procedures and rules, the role of the Petitions Committee and to compare the differences/similarities between the 4 institutions.
1 July Tony Dambrauskas Tony Dambrauskas, Head of Official Report in Victoria, British Columbia will visit the Parliament and meet with officials with an interest in the Parliament's broadcasting and publication services.
1 to 9 September 50th CPA Annual Conference 50th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference, hosted by the Canadian Branches of the CPA. The Scotland Branch sent Andrew Welsh MSP as delegate and Cathy Peattie MSP as observer with the Secretary of the CPA (Wales Branch) providing the accompanying Secretary.
8 October Dan Hays Dan Hays, President of the Canadian senate visited the Scottish parliament from 8-12 October primarily to attend the official opening ceremony for the new building. On Monday 11 the President met Members to discuss general issues in relation to oil and gas exploration in Scotland .
1 to 7 November National Assembly of Quebec 3 or 4 day visit of a cross-party delegation from the National Assembly of Quebec, made up of 4 members and a secretary. The visit would include bi-lateral meetings on a number of issues with MSPs. There would also be a cultural programme which would take them outwith Edinburgh.

20 February Canadian High Commissioner Visit to the Scottish Parliament, possible lunch with the Presiding Officer and the Members of the Executive Committee of the CPA (Scotland Branch)
21 May Special Committee on the Modernisation of the House of Commons Delegation will be looking at how the Scottish Parliament functions, having visited Westminster.
23 June Ontario Legislature Interns FCO-organised programme enabling interns to gain understanding of British parliamentary institutions.  They are in Scotland to look at challenges of devolution, coalition government and electoral reform.

4 September Mr Myron Kowalsky Mr P Myron Kowalsky, Speaker of the Saskatchewan Legislative Assembly, Canada visiting Parliament to meet counterpart and find our more about devolution. Direct request from the Speaker's office.
5 September Mr Cameron McKay Request from Clerk of the House of Assembly, Newfoundland and Labrador. 2nd year student page studying in UK is interested in historical and political background to establishment of parliament.
18 to 19 September Delegation from Alberta Parliament Five delegates led by Speaker Kowalski. To learn about the genesis and functioning of the Parliament. Approach from Dr David McNeil, Clerk of Alberta Legislative Assembly.
24 September Pierre Boyer Mr Boyer from the Quebec Official Delegation, London. Meeting with External Liaison Unit to discuss devolution and the Scottish Parliament.
3 to 9 November CPA Canadian Parliamentary Seminar 2nd CPA Canadian Parliamentary Seminar on "Emerging roles of parliamentarians: Challenges and Solutions", held in Ottawa. Notice to all MSPs 26 June requesting nominations (one female and one male). Scotland Branch been invited to send a female MSP (Nora Radcliffe MSP).
