Mr Bruno Chiaverini, Director of International Relations, Rhone-Alpes Regional Council is looking to gain a further knowledge into Scotland's experiences of devolution, as the Rhone-Alpes regions has just been given constitutional recognition under the French decentralisation process.
25 March French Journalists A group of French journalists visited the Scottish Parliament to attend Plenary and to meet with Members of the European and External Relations Committee over lunch.   The journalists' visit to Scotland had been arranged by the London Correspondent Service (LCS), a section within the FCO specialising in services for UK-based correspondents for foreign media.   The LCS had asked that their visit to Scotland be built around Devolution and the Entente Cordiale and the Scottish Executive and Scottish Parliament programmes were prepared accordingly.

French Senators

A delegation of French Senators from the French Sénat's Friendship Group will visit the Scottish Parliament.   Their visit will include meetings on the Scottish Parliament and devolution, as well as research and further education.   Their visit to Scotland will also include meetings with the Scottish Executive, COSLA and Edinburgh Council.

Mr Pierre-Antoine Berniard

The new French Consul General to Scotland , Pierre-Antoine Berniard, visited the Scottish Parliament to meet with the Presiding Officer for a courtesy call and attended First Minister's Question Time.

20 January Franco-German Friendship Treaty lunch Presiding Officer to attend lunch celebrating 40th anniversary of the Franco-German Friendship Treaty
21 to 22 February Devolution Seminar Presiding Officer attending Devolution Seminar and other events being held in Paris, France (including a visit to the National Assembly and the Senate).
15 May Mr Jean-Christophe Victor French political geoscientist to meet Vanessa Glynn and Stephen Imrie
19 June HE Gerard Errera HE Gerard Errera, French Ambassador to the United Kingdom to meet Members of European Committee, tours of VC and HVC, lunch with cross section of MSPs and a courtesy call with the Presiding Officer.  He will be accompanied by Michel Roche, French Consul General
