Romania

Mr Constantin Stoenescu, Secretary of State, Ministry of Labour, Social Solidarity and Families (MoLSS&F) will visit the Scottish Parliament with a delegation from the Romanian Government. The visit to Scotland is part of the Romanian Government's review of their social assistance services with the aim of adopting models of good practice from within Europe.The programme for the delegation's visit to the Scottish Parliament will include a briefing on Scotland's experience of devolution and a meeting with Gerry McInally of the Communities Committee to receive an overview of the Committee and to discuss social inclusion.

His Excellency Daithi O'Ceallaigh

Ireland

The Irish Ambassador, His Excellency Daithi O'Ceallaigh will visit the Parliament. This visit is being organised through the Europe and External Relations Committee. He will address MSPs and others on the priorities of the Irish Presidency of the EU.

HE Mr Christopher Kolade

Nigeria

HE Mr Christopher Kolade, the Nigerian High Commissioner will be in Scotland to give a lecture to the Centre of African Studies. He will also pay a courtesy call to a Deputy Presiding Officer and lunch with members of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Executive Committee.

Irish Trade Union Congress

Northern Ireland

A delegation from the Irish Congress of Trade Unions, accompanied by Bill Speirs, Deputy General Secretary of the Scottish Trade Union Congress (STUC) will visit the Scottish Parliament. The delegation are members of Initiative, which is aimed at encouraging young protestants in the North of Ireland to engage with political and civil society in a democratic and constructive way. The programme includes a presentation on "The Scottish Parliament and Devolution", a meeting with Iain Smith MSP (member of the British-Irish Interparliamentary Body) to discuss sectarian division and equality and a meeting with Sandra White MSP of the Public Petitions' Committee to receive an overview of the work of the Committee.

BIMR Regional Conference  

Falkland Islands

5 day British Islands and Mediterranean Region (BIMR) Annual Regional Conference held by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (Falkland Islands Branch) on the Falkland Islands.   David Davidson MSP attended on behalf of the Scotland Branch accompanied by a Secretary.

Enterprise and Culture Committee

Denmark

The Enterprise and Culture Committee will undertake an investigation of policy and development of renewable energy using wind farms and the consequent objections being raised in Denmark. This is in line with their case study in Campbeltown on January 19 & 20 of this year.

Philip Gawne MHK

Isle of Man

Philip Gawne MHK, a parliamentarian from the Isle of Man, will be in Edinburgh to give a lecture to the Department of Celtic, Edinburgh University and will visit the Scottish Parliament. Mr Gawne will observe proceedings from the VIP Gallery plus meet members from the Cross Party Group on Gaelic.

Mr George MacLaren

Canada

Mr George MacLaren, the new Agent General of Quebec to the United Kingdom plans to visit the Scottish Parliament, pay a courtesy call with the Presiding Officer and lunch with a cross section of MSPs.

Swedish MPs

Sweden

Initiated through the office of Helen Eadie MSP in conjunction with the Scotland and Europe cross-party pro European Campaign Group. This is a return visit by Swedish MPs, subsequent to an outward visit by MSPs to the Swedish Parliament during their recent referendum on joining the Euro. The main focus of the programme is an overview of the Scottish Parliament and its' experiences of devolution but also includes a meeting with the Presiding Officer.
