The Scottish Parliament will play host to the Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy and International Philanthropy Symposium. The day will be split with the Symposium taking place in the morning with 6 concurrent workshops on Poverty and Health; Environment and Sustainable Development; Education; International Peace, Justice and Security; Democracy, Governance and Civil Society; and Legal, Fiscal and Governance. Each workshop will have a named chair and 3 named speakers, these include Lord Sainsbury of Turville; Graca Machel; Richard Curtis; Elena Bonfiglio; Sir Crispin Tickell; Christopher B Field; Sir Jonathan Porritt; Chet Tchozewski; Lord Sutherland of Houndwood; Dr Frank Rhodes; Professor Kenneth King; Adele Simmons; Professor Sir David Edward; Mary Robinson; Lord Robertson of Port Ellen; Dr Jessica Matthews; the Rt Hon George Reid MSP; Lilia Shevtsova; Kumi Naidoo; Caroline Hartnell; Jane Wales; Steven Burkeman; and Helmut K Anheier. In the afternoon the Carnegie Medal Ceremony will take place in the Chamber of the Scottish Parliament hosted by the Presiding Officer the Rt Hon George Reid MSP, compered by BBC broadcaster and journalist Sally Magnusson and attended by past Carnegie Medal recipients and other distinguished guests from around the world. It is likely that there will be 5/6 recipients. More details to follow.
