The CPA
The CPA, previously known as the Empire Parliamentary Association, is an organisation, of British origin, which works to support good governance, democracy and human rights. The CPA comprises of 169 branches at national, state, regional and territorial levels, parliaments from the 53 Commonwealth countries, a total membership of around 16,000 parliamentarians. The supreme governing body, the CPA General Assembly, comprises of 400 members and meets annually. More information on the CPA can be found on the CPA website.
CPA Scotland Branch Membership
On Thursday 4th May 2000 the Scottish Parliament approved motion S1M-789 which established a Scottish Parliament Branch of the CPA.
As a member of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association the Scotland Branch has the opportunity to participate and engage in plenary, regional conferences, seminars, visits and exchanges of delegations.
The CPA Scotland Branch has an Executive Committee made up of an MSP from each of the main parties. The current members are:
