Purpose of the Group

The purpose of the group is to bring together MSPs and others with an interest in science and technology in Scotland. It aims to raise awareness amongst MSPs of important developments in science and technology. The group will hold focussed meetings with debate opened by guest speakers active in fields of scientific and technological developments of interest to the Scottish Parliament. Membership is welcomed from MSPs, learned societies, industry, further and higher education, NGOs and other interested parties.

Financial Benefits: The CPG has received financial support exceeding £250, and likely to be less than £500 for the full financial year, in respect of the cost of refreshments for meetings from the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). The RSC is an educational charity registered with the Charities Commission (No. 207890).

The Group has also received financial support of less than £250 from the Institute of Physics (IoP), in respect of the cost of refreshments at meetings. The IoP is an educational charity registered with the Charity Commission (No. 293851).

The CPG receives secretarial supprot at no charge from the Royal Society of Chemistry and Royal Society of Edinburgh. The Royal Society of Edinburgh, Scotland's National Academy, is Scottish Charity No. SC000470.
