Irene likes to read in her spare time, and particularly enjoys biographies of her political heroes, such as Franklin D. Roosevelt. She is also passionate about ballet and makes a point of trying to watch Scottish ballet's latest production. Mrs. Oldfather is a music lover, and has varied musical tastes ranging from classical to modern rock!

At weekends, when not attending local constituency events or Labour party meetings, she spends valuable time with her family.
