I was self employed until 5 April 2007 undertaking general political and business expertise consultancy work from my home in Troon. I worked varying hours but typically 20 hours per week for which I received remuneration of between £15,001 and £20,000.

I was a voluntary elected member of the Scottish Conservative Executive Committee between September 2003 and March 2007. My work involved attending meetings on a weekly basis representing the views of members. I was a voluntary elected member of the Scottish Conservative Executive Committee and the Deputy Chairman of the Scottish Conservative Party between June 2005 and March 2006. In addition to my weekly meetings as a voluntary elected member, as Deputy Chairman I attended meetings of the UK Board of the Conservative Party and arranged and chaired the Scottish Party Conference. My travel and accommodation expenses for attending meetings and conferences as a voluntary elected member of the Scottish Conservative Executive Committee and as Deputy Chairman of the Scottish Conservative Party were reimbursed in the year to March 2006 to a value between £2,001 and £3,000 and in the year to March 2007 to a value between £1,001 and £2,000 by the Scottish Unionist Association Trust.
