About the image: As you look around from the centre of the garden you'll see the garden lobby with committee towers behind, Queensberry House, and the MSP block. Apple and pear trees can be seen on the trellises as a reminder that the area was previously an orchard.

Box hedges were planted to give the garden the feel of a traditional Scottish garden, and plants include lavender, rosemary and elderberry.

The white-domed building in the distance is Our Dynamic Earth, against the backdrop of Arthur's Seat. The public grounds outside the Parliament have also been landscaped, with the planting of indigenous Scottish wildflowers, trees and shrubs.

The final stage of this online tour is the Parliament shop.

If you're planning a visit to Holyrood in person, information including guided tour details and opening times is available in our Visitor section.
