Dunfermline was the location for the latest in a series of Parliament events promoting the public petitions system.
On Monday 30 January around 80 local people including representatives of community and voluntary organisations attended a formal meeting of the Public Petitions Committee, followed by a workshop demonstrating how the petitioning system operates.
The meeting at the Glen Pavilion in Pittencrief built on the success of similar events held in Dundee, Inverness and Ayr.
A number of local petitioners also gave evidence to the committee,
as did the Westminster MP John MacDougall MP.
The Public Petitions Committee provides one of the key avenues for public involvement in Scottish Parliament.
Any individual, group or organisation may petition the Parliament, and the committee may invite petitioners to speak in support of petitions. Holyrood's innovative e-petitions system enables the public to raise and sign an e-petition online, and add comments to an online discussion on the topic.
A report on the event will be made available on the Parliament's website and will be sent to all delegates.
