Presiding Officer George Reid presented Joanna Findlay and Margaret Nicoll of Grove Academy in Dundee with the Scottish Junior Debating trophy on Friday 3 March.
Pupils from 72 teams in 30 Scottish schools took part in 20 rounds before the final in Lower Parliament Hall, St Andrews - where Mr Reid honed his own debating skills as a student.
The annual competition is organised by the Courier newspaper, the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland and the University's Debating Society.
