International Development Minister addresses MSPs

Rt Hon Hilary Benn MP, Secretary of State for International Development, visited the Scottish Parliament on Thursday 22 June to give an address on ending global poverty.
This was Mr Benn's second visit to Holyrood, and he spoke of his great pleasure at being invited back to speak in the chamber.
Mr Benn discussed ways of tackling corruption and the progress that has been made since last year's Make Poverty History campaign.

Presiding Officer George Reid chaired the event.
Mr Benn was invited to speak by the cross party International Development Group (IDG) convened by Des McNulty MSP.

The minister looked at Scotland's relationship with Malawi, and praised the work MSPs were doing in building strong links with the country and in tackling global poverty in general.
Mr Benn said: “This is a huge task we've got and I welcome the contribution Scotland is making and I applaud it – it's good to see the progress it has made.”

Among the audience at Holyrood were Reverend Alan D McDonald, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland; and Cardinal Keith O'Brien, Archbishop of St Andrews and Edinburgh.
