His Excellency Arnold Rüütel, the President of the Republic of Estonia, visited the Scottish Parliament on Monday 3 July.

The President's visit to Scotland focussed on economic and cultural links between the two countries, which have enjoyed an historic relationship since both were trading partners in the Hanseatic League, an alliance of trading cities between the 13th and 17th centuries.

His Excellency Arnold Rüütel and Dr Ingrid Rüütel in the Parliament's garden lobby during their tour of the building.
During his visit to Scotland President Rüütel visited cultural venues and businesses in and around Edinburgh.
