Holyrood hosts innovative language awards

It was the first time the awards have been held in Scotland.

The event is co-ordinated in the UK by CILT (the National Centre for Languages) and supported by the European Commission.

     
 

 

The European Award for Languages recognises outstanding creativity in language teaching.

CILT patron Sir Trevor McDonald presented the awards.

There were two winning projects from Scotland.

Shawlands Academy in Glasgow won for their Litterhitters campaign.

 

     
Sir Trevor McDonald and winners from Heriot-Watt University.
 

Heriot-Watt University won the special adult education prize for bringing together teenage learners, student interpreters and community figures in a multilingual debate.
