Presiding Officer visits Canada

Presiding Officer George Reid MSP has met parliamentarians in Canada during a week long visit to the country. On Tuesday 28 November Mr Reid visited the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, in Toronto. He is pictured right with the Speaker, Hon Michael A. Brown MPP.

The Presiding Officer was also guest speaker at a St Andrew's Day dinner in Vancouver on 30 November, and visited the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia.

Solicitor General of British Columbia John Les, Presiding Officer George Reid and Speaker of the BC Legislature, Bill Barisoff examine a set of bagpipes dating back to World War 1. The bagpipes were lost during the Battle of the Somme by a piper from the Canadian Scottish Regiment and were recently rediscovered in a Scottish school and returned to British Columbia.
