Public Petitions Committee convener Frank McAveety welcomed the delegation to the Scottish Parliament |
Members of the Public Petitions Committee today welcomed to Holyrood a delegation from the Provincial Legislature of Gauteng in South Africa.
The delegation, from the Legislature's Petitions Standing Committee, is led by Uhuru Moiloa, chairperson of the committee.
The group met MSPs including Public Petitions Committee convener Frank MacAveety, viewed a demonstration of the Scottish Parliament's e-petitions system, and observed a meeting of the committee.
The Gauteng province covers an area of approximately
17 000 sq km, including the cities of Johannesburg and Pretoria, with a population of approximately eight million people.
On Wednesday 19 September the Public Petitions Committee will meet members of the Parliament of the Czech Republic's Committee of Petitions and Minority Rights.
