The President of Croatia, His Excellency Stjepan Mesić, visited the Scottish Parliament on Thursday 18 October.

Presiding Officer Alex Fergusson MSP is pictured welcoming the President at the Parliament's Queensberry House, ahead of a formal reception marking the President’s visit.

In addition to visiting the Parliament President Mesić is to meet the First Minister and open the new Honorary Consulate of Croatia in Edinburgh.

He will also address an economic seminar on investment opportunities and the development of Scottish-Croatian business cooperation.

This is President Mesić’s second visit to Scotland while in office. On his first visit to the Scottish Parliament in December 2001, Mr Mesić addressed a meeting of Members.
