International Press Institute World Congress
Leading figures from the world of journalism and the media visited Holyrood when the Scottish Parliament hosted the opening ceremony of the International Press Institute (IPI) World Congress.
Presiding Officer George Reid MSP welcomed delegates to the Parliament's Debating Chamber on Sunday 28 May, and on Monday 29 May he delivered a keynote speech to the Congress, on the subject "Small Voices in a Big World".
The Presiding Officer's speech focussed on the struggle the media in smaller countries face to keep their cultural and political identity, using Scotland as a successful case in point.
The event was held at Edinburgh's Sheraton Hotel.
