Government response
A response from the Scottish Government to the recommendations in this report was published on 14 June 2010. The Committee considered the response at its meeting on 23 June 2010 and agreed to seek a parliamentary debate on this report. Further details on the date for this debate will be published in due course.
Inquiry
The Health and Sport Committee undertook a short inquiry into out-of-hours healthcare provision in rural areas of Scotland. The inquiry examined the changes to out-of-hours provision in rural areas and the resultant effect on:
- The quality of out-of-ours care in rural areas, with a specific focus on clinical safety and effectiveness
- The accessibility and availability of out-of-hours care in rural areas
- The sustainability and cost of out-of-hours care in rural areas
