Guided Tours

We offer a guided tours service, run by professional tour guides.

The tours take you from the Main Hall to the floor of the Chamber to see where the MSPs meet to debate and decide on the issues that matter to the people of Scotland. You will also visit a Committee Room and explore further into the building, to allow views of the MSPs office block and historic Queensberry House.

Booking for the Guided Tours is essential.

Guided Tour Prices:

  • Adults: £6.00
  • Concessions: £3.60 (children aged 5 to 16; people aged 60 and over; students; unemployed; disabled people)
  • Family: £18.00
  • Children under 5: Free
  • Support workers/carers accompanying a disabled person: Free        

Please ask for details of our family ticket rates and discounts for pre-booked groups of 20 or more people.

The tour lasts one hour. Please note that this is a walking tour and the route includes steps. More information on assistance with visiting the Parliament is available here.

The tours run on non-business days: Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays in weeks when Parliament is sitting; all weekdays when Parliament is in recess). There are no public tours on business days (most Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays), when Parliament is sitting.

On days when there are Guided Tours, they run regularly between the following times:

  • 11.20 - 16.00 (Saturdays all year and Public Holidays)
  • 10.20 – 16.00 (weekdays, 1 April – 30 September) and 10.20 – 14.40 (weekdays, 1 October– 31 March)

Tour times and availability can be subject to change, for example if there is a major event taking place in the building. Please contact us if you would like to check whether tours will be available on the day of your proposed visit and to make a booking.

Please note that tours will not be available on the following dates due to the Parliament's major events programme.

If you wish to join a tour, we strongly recommend that you reserve your tickets in advance, as our tours are very popular. If you book a tour, please arrive at least 20 minutes before the tour departure time.

You are welcome to visit the public areas of the Scottish Parliament, which include our café, shop and crèche

 

In addition to the guided tours, all visitors to the Parliament can freely access the public areas, view an exhibition about the Parliament or make use of the shop, public café, crèche and Visitor Information Desk.

On business days, members of the public can book free tickets to see Parliament in action in committees or meetings of the full Parliament. This is a very popular option and booking in advance is recommended. On non-business days, the Chamber and Committee Room public galleries are open for visitors to see these remarkable spaces and staff are available to answer questions.
